Read Through - Before Frida

“Before Frida” tells the story through songs, images and drama, of a girl born four months after the end of the 2nd World War in a tiny village in the very north of Norway with a German father and young Norwegian mother who died when Frida was two. She was brought up by her grandmother, became a respected jazz singer before helping to change the face of pop music for ever. Her name was Anna-Frid Lyngstad, better known as “Frida” from ABBA.

Following the play’s first read-through and some re-writes, we are planning another read-through on Thursday 18th June at 7.00pm at The Ice Factory Studio. The cast is:  

  • Anna-Frid Lyngstad – able to play young child, teenager and 20 something

  • Synni (Anna-Frid’s mother) – playing age from 17 to 22

  • Agni (Anna-Frid’s Grandmother) – playing age from 30 to 50

  • Alfred – playing age 22 / compare

  • T.V. host – Any age / Band leader / “Studio 8” compare

  • Voice-over – any gender / age

  • Synni’s friend (small part, could double) – playing age - teen

  • Agnetha Faltskog – Age 17

As well as a read-through this is also an opportunity for anyone interested in directing the play to come along and hear it for the first time.
