TEIGNMOUTH PLAYERS TRUSTEES

AMY BURTON-SMITH

Amy needs no introduction to the majority of the Players having acted in and directed numerous productions from Pantomimes to the highly successful Blackadder.
She is passionate about the Players and is determined to make sure that the Society has an excellent future after we move from the Ice Factory.

EMMA FIRTH

In her role as trustee, Emma is particularly keen to strengthen the society’s connections within the local area and to encourage greater involvement from younger members of the community.
Emma has been involved with Teignmouth Players as a member, choreographer and recently Director for ‘Variety of Villains’ and is very keen to bring many more social events for members and the general public to enjoy.

JACQUIE GOWANS

Jacquie has been involved in Teignmouth Players for approximately four years as a volunteer on the Front of House, and as a Chaperone. Her creative experience in theatre is limited to an evening class in Drama whilst at university, but she has always had a love of theatre.
A full time employee with the NHS as an Occupational Therapist specialising in mental health. She is also a private counselor and clinical hypnotherapist. She has a wealth of experience to bring to Teignmouth Players, particularly around Safeguarding. As a trustee, Jacquie is dedicated to ensuring that our community theatre continues to inspire and unite diverse audiences through high-quality performances and provide opportunities to anyone interested in theatre either behind the scenes or on the stage.

JEREMY HOLLOWAY

Jeremy Holloway has been involved in theatre for nearly 50 years, having started out as a technician at Poole Arts Centre (now known as ‘The Lighthouse’) working with the likes of David Jason, Michael Jackson and Tina Turner.
He then trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School before touring for ten straight years as a stage / production manager. Jeremy has set up and run two theatre companies; the second (Ratchet Theatre) has played at the Ice Factory Studio Theatre three times; Dark Vanilla Jungle; FREAK and Objective Bodies – The Sanctuary
Jeremy also directed ‘84 Charing Cross Road’ for Teignmouth Players two years ago and comes to Teignmouth Players direct from Dartington Village hall where he was Chair for the last five years, during which time he managed to extort £14,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to celebrate the Hall’s one hundred year anniversary.

ROGER SMITH

Roger needs no introduction to most members, having previously been Chair of the Society for nearly ten years. Although no longer living in the area, Teignmouth, and especially Teignmouth Players run very deep through his veins. He has also been a trustee of Pavilions Teignmouth. Roger skillfully steered the Society through the seismic changes needed when we left the Carlton Theatre, and had to re-invent ourselves in our new home, The Ice Factory Studio Theatre.

ROGER TARRANT

Roger Tarrant has been a member of the Teignmouth Players for many years; he has a background in residential social work and has a BA in Performance Writing and Theatre gained at Dartington College of Arts.
Now retired, he has recently joined the board of trustees and hopes to get the Ice Factory Studio Theatre used more often during the day with workshops, a film club and possibly a jazz club.
