Play Reading - Maskerade - Stephen Briggs adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novel Maskerade

All is not well in the Ankh-Morpork Opera House.

A ghost stalks the dark corridors, leaving strange letters for the management and ... killing people. Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg, two Lancre witches, investigate, and are soon involved in all kinds of skulduggery, mayhem and ear-splittingly loud singing.

Quirky and original characters, a labyrinthine plot and numerous witty one-liners make this a treat for Discworld fans and 'uninitiated' theatregoers alike.

Your chance to join in and play a part in this popular play without having to learn the liners as we offer a play reading session in the Ice Factory Studio Theatre.

Why not come along and join in or if you don’t want to read just come and listen.

Everyone welcome

A couple reviews on the play

Local witch Nanny Ogg has written a book revealing some passionate recipes and Granny Weatherwax sees she has been ripped off by the Ankh-Morpork publisher.
They go there to straighten matters out and encounter a local witch candidate who is ghosting for a budding diva at the opera house.
There is a ghost in the opera house and foul play that needs sorting out and our heroines are up to the task with their insight and persistence.
As usual, the dialog is fast and funny, and the insights into human nature and institutions profound. All these books are fun.

I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed Maskerade as it's been a while since I read it, but this reminded me. It's also a really clever adaptation that makes a fantasy novel work for a small cast and a small budget. Clever and fun.
